THE MONKS GOT A GREAT SURPRISE
WHEN THEY GOT TO South Carolina there were thousands of people greeting and supporting them! If you hadn’t heard yet they have made a journey based in loving kindness to spread peace throughout as they walk. Their 2300 mile trek has had ups and downs, with one monk losing a leg, and another hospitalized when a truck ran into their support vehicle as the group walked in front of it. They are now on day 77 of a 120 day march through the Deep South heading for D.C. to spread peace, love, kindness, and compassion for all humanity. However, for the most part, the monks have been greeted with joy and love everywhere they go. On January 10, 2026, thousands of people, including local officials, greeted the Buddhist monks on their "Walk for Peace" in Columbia, South Carolina, where they received proclamations and gathered at the Statehouse, showing massive community support and peaceful participation. These monks are doing God’s work, and I am pleased to see that more and more people are coming out to support them, and walk with them through their own cities.
